My aloe vera turned brown and went flat. Leaves drooping, tips shriveling. I watered more. It got worse. Classic mistake.
Aloe stores water in its leaves. Brown + droopy means stress, not thirst. I had it in a south-facing window getting 6 hours of direct afternoon sun. That's too much for aloe. It's a succulent, not a cactus.
Moved it to an east window — bright indirect light, 2 hours of morning sun only. Stopped watering for 2 weeks. After 3 weeks the green came back. After 6 weeks it was standing up again.
Aloe rule: bright indirect light, water every 3-4 weeks, let the soil dry completely between waterings. Brown means too much sun, not too little water.
